Week 2 Takeaways: Woodhaven vs Trenton

By: Natalia Terleckyj

This game was truly a tale of two halves. The Trenton Trojans and Woodhaven Warriors have been in a rivalry for years. Last year was the first time in 6 seasons that the Trojans beat the Warriors. This year they did it again by winning 27-14.

Warrior down?

Since the Woodhaven Warriors lost some key players in the class of 2022, the Warriors struggled to produce like they usually do. Last year, they finished with a record of 6-4. The Warriors’ offense came out to play in the first half, scoring the game’s first touchdown. Quarterback Benjamin Kolodziejczky scored both touchdowns for the Warriors. The Warriors came back from half and looked like they were ready for war, but they could not score the rest of the game, being stopped by the Trojan defense and struggling to get a first down.

Trojan offense busting out

The start of the game saw the Trojan offensive unit struggling to make big plays. As for the Trojans O-line having question marks after losing key players last year, they put those to rest with a good showing versus the Warriors. This year, you can see that they are trying to recreate the run game from last year that proved to be huge for the Trojans. Even though they struggled with run blocking, they were able to score two touchdowns before the half, making the score 14-13 Woodhaven. Quarterback Keegan Lewis had 124 passing yards and Running Back Drew Carson had 23 total yards with one touchdown and a 2-point conversion. The last player that busted out for the Trojan offense was Receiver Nathan Ariganello, who had 101 yards and a touchdown. In the second half of the game, it was all Trojans. They had some nice defensive stops and an interception as a team, paving the way to the Trojan victory.
