Week 3 Takeaways: Divine Child vs Milford

By: Natalia Terleckyj

The Milford Mavericks vs the Falcons of Divine Child was a game you wanted to be at. The first half and into the third quarter was all Milford as they were leading the game the whole time. Going into the 4th quarter, the score was 23-6 Milford, but something about the 4th quarter meant a lot to the Falcons as they scored the final three touchdowns en route to winning the game 26-23.

Milford

The Dynamic Duo

The Milford Mavericks and the Divine Child Falcons battled the whole night against each other. During the first half, the Mavericks took the game into their hands, scoring the first touchdown in the first quarter and then kicking a 36-yard field goal to put them at 10-6 going into halftime. Milford scored their last two touchdowns in the third quarter, leaving them at 23-6. The two players who helped the Mavericks produce like they did were Quarterback Ryan Allen and Running Back Peyton Chamberlain. Allen had a good night against the Falcons defense. He finished going 12/17 for 134 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 112 yards on 20 attempts with a touchdown. Chamberlain also shined for the Mavericks, scoring one touchdown with 56 scrimmage yards. These two players were the dynamic duo of the night, making the game a fun one to watch.

Divine Child

4th Quarter Show Out.

The 4th Quarter was like no other for Divine Child. The Falcons had been down all night, only being able to score off of 2 field goals all game until the fourth quarter. Starting the fourth quarter, the Falcons scored their first touchdown of the night, and after that, it was their game for the rest of the night. Divine Child would not have been able to pull off this win without the likes of Tyler Eby, Marcello Vitti, and quarterback Bryce Borgus. Borgus did not start this game but ended up coming in the second quarter and staying in the rest of the game.

The Flock That Guided the Way

The star running back for Divine Child, Marcello Vitti, played on both sides of the ball this game with 21 tackles and two tackles for loss (TFL) while adding 15 carries for 63 yards. Tyler Eby was under the radar the whole game until that fourth quarter; Eby had six receptions for 66 yards, two touchdowns, one being the game-winning touchdown, as well as three tackles with 1 TFL. Lastly, Quarterback Bryce Borgus was 9/11 for 132 yards with three touchdowns while also having five carries for 27 yards. These three players put this game in motion for the Falcons.
