Week 2 Takeaways: Allen Park Downs Southgate in Overtime

Southgate vs Allen Park: this game has been a heated rivalry since 2021, when the defensive coordinator left Allen Park to head over to join the Titans. Before the game, Allen Park was leading the series 27-7; Southgate was hoping to add a win since they have not been able to beat the Jaguars since 2010. Unfortunately, Southgate’s dreams fell short; Allen Park won the game in Overtime(OT) with a score of 20-19

Southgate

Just Short

Southgate Anderson started the game with the first touchdown but missed the extra points, making it 6-0. The team on both sides of the ball did what they could to get this win, working together on and off the field. The game would lead to OT; the Jaguars would get the ball first and would score the first touchdown, making the score 20-13. Southgate came back minutes later and did the same thing. The Titans attempted the two-point conversion but fell just short of that goal line.

Allen Park

On Top

Allen Park Jaguars made this a back-and-forth game, being late to add to the score, but when they did, the Jaguars did not stop till the very end. Teamwork and fight did not end for this team; they also missed the extra point with their first touchdown but were able to get the extra point in OT, which then put them on top with the final score of 20-19, which made the new series record 28-7. The offense uses many key players to help get this win, one of them being Weston Glei.

Fly Glei

Weston Glei is a player who puts his heart on the line on both sides of the ball. Glei finished the game with a touchdown and an interception. On offense, he pulled in six receptions for 65 yards and added three returns for 93 yards. Glei proved his own this game and definitely on the games that are to come this season for the Allen Park Jaguars.
