Week 6 Takeaways: Trenton Shocks the League as they Take Down Carlson

The Trenton Trojans came into this game with a 3-2 record, losing to Southgate Anderson and Woodhaven Warriors. On the other hand, the Carlson Marauders were undefeated, and the school had the highest-scoring offense in the league, even without their top running back, Izaiah Wright.  Trenton Trojans traveled to Marauder stadium as it was the homecoming game. Carlson took the first loss of the season, with the Trojans putting up a score of 28-14.

Carlson Marauders

Underprepared

Did Carlson come into this game thinking it was going to be an easy match-up for them? The Marauders were unable to get through the Trenton defense. Not only was the defense an issue for the Marauders’ offense, but so were the four turnovers and the lack of being able to run the ball. Quarterback Joe Krolk had one touchdown pass and a 77-yard rushing touchdown.

Homecoming Crashers

This game was the first time the Trojans played as a team for all three phases of the game. The defense was sharp and in tune with where the ball was going. The offense maintained the ball as they had won the time of possession and capitalized on Carlson’s turnovers. This game was a full team effort, from scoring on three of the six possessions, a blocked field goal, and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Key players in this game were Ashton Rooney, who scored two touchdowns; Ansel Fater, who scored a fumble recovery touchdown; and Drew Carson, who scored one touchdown.

Hard Hitter

Brock Culpepper was the runner-up for the Defensive Player of the Year last year, and he showed us why in this one. Culpepper, a junior for the Trenton Trojans, had 14 tackles and two forced fumbles and was able to get pressure on the Carlson Quarterback, which led to the big win.
