The Carlson Marauders welcomed the Detroit Country Day Yellowjackets to their home ice for a big showdown. We saw scoring in the first period, but it was the defense that took us the rest of the way until overtime, when the Marauders won by a final of 2-1.

Missed Chances
The Yellowjackets had plenty of chances to score as they outshot the Marauders 28-18. Late in the third period, they had a five-on-three advantage that allowed them to get some good shots on goal. They just couldn’t get anything past the Marauders goaltender. The two penalties late in the game extended into the overtime period, where they had a good look at the goal but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Saving the Day
Junior Keeghan Moore was phenomenal in net for the Marauders, stopping 27 of the 28 shots he faced. Post-game, Moore said he was 0-3 against the Yellowjackets coming into this one, but in this one, they were no match for the Marauders’ man in net.
Game Winner
Following the end of the five-minute major that was given to the Marauders, one of the top goal scorers on the team, Cameron Luszczynsski, came speeding off of the bench, and his teammate Drake Dietz found him down the ice on a breakaway. That breakaway would find the back of the net and win the Marauders over the Yellowjackets. Luszczynsski showed off his speed and puck handling on the goal as it was put behind him, but he could still reach the puck and send his team home happy.
