The Pioneers of Dearborn High School traveled to Northville High School for the second-place game in the KLAA. It was a rematch of a game earlier this season that Dearborn won by a final 62-48. Would it be more of the same, or could Northville get revenge on their home court? It would start slow for Northville and stay slow as Dearborn came away with a 66-49 victory in the rematch.
Northville
Spark Plug
The Northville Mustangs looked to be dead to rights in the first quarter of the game, as they had no energy to start the game. That was until Andrew Payne entered the game. Payne is a guy who doesn’t normally see the court for his team, but he provided a spark. When he entered the game, they were down 16-4, and because of how Payne played, they were able to cut it to a six-point lead at one point because of his intensity. While they couldn’t win, Payne provided his team a spark to mount a rally.

Mashhour Times 2
The Mashhour brothers lit up the court in the win over Northville. Hamoody Mashhour was all his team needed in the first half as he scored 13, which led all scorers at the half, but it was the third quarter where he really took over the game as he scored nine of his 24 points. His younger brother, Adam, was deadly from range as he hit five threes for 15 of his 19 points in the game. If the Mashhour name sounds familiar, it’s because their older brother Nassim Mashhour lit up the court last year, and he’s averaging just shy of 13 minutes a game for Oakland University this year. If Adam and Hamoody can keep dominating on the court, they can guide this Dearborn team far in the playoffs.
