The Battle of Dix and Champaign took to the playoffs as Lincoln Park hosted Allen Park in the District Final. The game was delayed a day due to a water main break outside of the school. While it was cold outside, the fans of both teams brought energy and heat into the gym. The game would be back-and-forth, but it would be Lincoln Park that would hold on late to win it all, 58-50.
Allen Park Jaguars
High Flying Glei
In his last high school basketball game, Weston Glei had himself a night. The Senior put on a game for the ages, scoring 31 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and a steal in the loss. While it wasn’t enough for the Jaguars to come away with the win, he kept his team in the game and made it close. While the Jaguars did end up losing the game, if they didn’t have Glei out there, it could have been a worse game for the team.
Lincoln Park Railsplitters
Team Ball
Lincoln Park came out and played good team ball. While they have a two-headed monster in the likes of Sean Bailey and Zahir Haqq, and they got theirs in the game, they also went all around the horn as they had six players get in the scoring column. What helped the Railsplitters was getting to the line 18 times in the second half. The biggest beneficiary of the free throws was Haqq as he showed he wasn’t afraid to go to the line as he went 12 of 13 in the second half, including making all six in the fourth quarter to help his team ice the game away
