D1QB Lab Game of the Week: Carlson Marauders vs Woodhaven Warriors

Welcome to week nine. The final week of the regular season, and this week we head back to the Downriver League as rivals the Carlson Marauders face off against the Woodhaven Warriors. On the line in this game is a share of the Downriver League title.

Last year’s game saw the Marauders go into Warriors stadium and beat Woodhaven for the first time since 2017. This year the Warriors will look to repay the favor as they head to Marauder Stadium. In last season’s game, the Marauders needed the win to capture part of the Downriver League title, and this year the same is true for Woodhaven needing a win in the final game to clinch a share of the Downriver League.

While the Marauders have been playing at or near full strength all season it’s a different story for the Warriors as they had been missing senior running back Devin Henry for a majority of the season. Only playing in four and a half games this year, Henry has tallied 540 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. Henry finally got back to full strength last week and he racked up 294 yards and 6 touchdowns in the 49-21 win over Southgate. Likewise, Carlsons’ running back Omari Carter rushed for 300 yards, however, he only found the endzone once in his team’s 30-14 win over Lakeland.

Other players who will look to make an impact Friday night are Woodhaven quarterback Dom Davis, who has been the Warriors’ best player this season, and Nathan Blaszczak also of Woodhaven. On the other side, Carlson’s Ben Przytula and Eddie Light will look to make a statement in this game, while the athlete known as Brandon Scheffler will look to end his season on a high note.

This game is sure to be a bloodbath. Kickoff is Friday night at 7 pm from the campus of Carlson High School.

Bonus game pick Allen Park Jaguars vs Southgate Titans

A rivalry game that has seen the Allen Park Jaguars in every game dating back to 2010 when the Southgate Titans win 40-6 the tides might finally be turning. The Titans have a new staff that knows the Jaguars fairly well, as the Titans’ new headman is the former Jaguars defensive coordinator Bobby Martin. When Martin left he also took two other coaches with him for his staff. Will it be a family reunion or will we have a “Red Wedding” of sorts. As Allen Park looks to become playoff eligible, and Southgate looks to gain ground in the playoff standings. Who you got? The mentor or the apprentice? Kickoff is Friday at 7 pm from Southgate.
