D1QB Lab Game of the Week: Mason at Trenton

For our D1QB Lab Game of the Week, we are heading back Downriver as the Trojans of Trenton High School welcome in the Bulldogs of Mason High School.

The Trenton Trojans are back in the Regionals for the first time since 1998, when they made it to the state Semifinals. The Trojans will lean heavily on Quarterback and BSN MVP Ty Norgren who has put together a phenomenal season passing for 513 yards and eight touchdowns while adding another 947 yards on the ground and 12 more touchdowns that way. They will also look to Norgren’s favorite target Austin Toth who caught 12 passes for 317 yards and six touchdowns while also running for 100 yards on 13 carries.

Mason is back in the Regionals for the second straight season as they look to make it to back-to-back state semifinal appearances. Led by Sophomore Quarterback Carson Carswell, Senior Wide Receiver Collin Page, and Junior Running Back AJ Martel, the Bulldogs have a team that is battle tested. On the season, the Bulldogs have run for 2300 yards, and they have seen Carswell pass for 1836 yards and 27 touchdowns on 97 completions on 141 passing attempts.

Mason’s defense has also been phenomenal as they have only allowed 116 points in 11 games which comes out to 10.5 points per game while scoring 44 points per game. Trenton’s defense has been about the same, only letting up 125 points on the season, which comes out to 11.4 points a game, but the offense is only averaging 25 points a game. What will give in this one? Will Mason’s offense and defense be able to keep it up after an hour bus ride, or will Trenton’s defense be able to stand tall and stifle Mason’s offense? Will Mason’s defensive unit be too much for Trenton’s offense? We find out if the Trojans or Bulldogs are better equipped for battle on November 11 at 7 pm from Trenton High School.
