Season Preview: For New Boston Huron a Quarterback Search Could Give Them More Team Flexibility

Last year, the New Boston Huron Chiefs welcomed in Legendary head coach Tom Hoover, and he guided them to a 6 and 4 record and a playoff berth.

The Chiefs are returning six on Offense and five on Defense. Some returning Chief players are Micah Smith, Christian Copley, Ryan Anderson, and Brennan Caldwell.

There will be battles in camp, and the biggest battle that Coach Hoover pointed out was battles for starting spots on the lines. That battle will be big, but the bigger battle might be trying to decide who will take over for Gavin Muzzy. Muzzy Graduated last year, is now attending Michigan State, and will play college baseball for the Spartans.

Seniors Micha Smith, Christian Copley, and Junior Austin O’Dell are battling it out for the open spot under center. It isn’t a loss for the Chiefs; however, Hoover said whoever doesn’t win the starting job will still get playing time. He said that could be running back or elsewhere.

The Chiefs will open the season at home against Livonia Churchill on August 24 at 7 pm.
