Season Preview: Can Lincoln Park Find Their Way Out of The Cellar?

Coming off a 2-7 season, the Lincoln Park Railsplitters are looking to show everyone in the league they are ready to take the next step.

The Railsplitters return 22 players. Sixteen of them were starters last season. The Railspiltters will also bring in 16 new players, and Head Coach Chad Bonmon said that that would build competition for the team and bring on many battles for the team.

One position that isn’t up for grabs is the starting Quarterback position, which will belong to Sophomore Jacob Boykins. This will be Boykins’s first year as a Varsity Starter. However, Bonmon said, “He brings great leadership to our offense,” when describing his sophomore signal caller.

While Boykins will be the main focus of the newcomers for Lincoln Park, the coaching staff is equally excited for Freshman Receiver Corey Williams. The freshman is expected to play a significant role on the offensive side of the ball.

The Railsplitters will open the season on the road at Edsel Ford on Thursday, August 24. They will return home the following week as they welcome in rival Wyandotte.
