The Bears of Wyandotte are welcoming in their second head coach in as many years as they welcome in Wyandotte Grad Jakob Zanski to lead the team after back-to-back losing seasons.
Returning for the Bears are ten starters and sixteen players total. Senior Receiver Chase Cline and Senior Running Back Max Biundo will have to be the driving force on offense if the Bears want to turn a 2-7 2022 into a playoff berth in 2023. Last season Biundo was basically the entire offense for the Bears as he ran for 1061 yards and 15 touchdowns as a Junior. While those two will be the guys that make the offense go, they still need to find their Quarterback, and that is the battle that was mentioned by Zanski with him, saying, “The best Quarterback of ANY age will be our starter,” he made it a point to emphasize any in that statement.
Also returning for the Bears are two-way starters Tommy Cappuccilli and Alex Emory, who Zanski said make a big impact on the team offensively and defensively.
Zanski said he is trying to bring in a culture that competes daily, saying, “I just want these players to have the same experience as I and others before I had as Wyandotte Bears.”
The Bears open up on August 24 at home as they host Woodhaven, with kickoff set for 7 pm.
