The Allen Park Jaguars and the Carlson Marauders met for a second time this season, however this time it was for the district championship.
The Jaguars started strong as Sunerio Hamilton was able to bounce off a few defenders and run 45 yards for the opening score of the game with 6:31 left in the first quarter. For the ensuing Marauders drive they tried for a fake field goal to catch the Jaguars off guard, but the Jags sniffed it out and kept it a 7-0 game after one.
A slow start to the second quarter for both teams would open the door for Carlson to get back into this one as Marauders Quarterback Eddie Light would find Wide Receiver, Jaishaun Williams, from 36 yards out to even it up at seven. From that point on though it would be all Jaguars as they would go on to score 21 unanswered points.
The first of the 21 unanswered points came on the ensuing Jaguars drive as a 76-yard return from Kevin Lebron would set up a 13-yard touchdown pass from Ethan Gajewski to Lebron a few plays later. The Jaguars would then strike once more before the half ended as Thomas “Swaggy” David would rush it in from four yards out to make it a 21-7 game.
The final score of the night would come seven seconds into the fourth as Jaguars Quarterback Ethan Gajewski would get his second score of the night this one, however, would be on the ground as he would run it in from a yard out to make it 28-7. Following the game head coach Tom Danosky said “We told them all week it was going to be a challenge because it’s hard to beat a team twice, and they are a very well-coached team.”
The Marauders were led by Cody Britt and Jaishaun Williams. For Britt, he rushed 22 times for 100 yards, and for Williams, he caught four of six passes for 100 yards, and the lone Marauders touchdown he also added 9 yards on the ground.
Player of the Game
