We have hit the District final round of the Playoffs, which means we are getting to the cream of the crop. This week’s games have powerhouse teams for our games. We will see Divine Child take on Airport, and then our Game of the Week takes us to Belleville as they host Saline.
Divine Child at Airport
The Divine Child Falcons will travel to Carleton to take on the Airport Jets. This will be the first meeting for the two schools.
For the Falcons, they played road warriors as they went into Redford and beat Redford Union 39-22. The Falcons were led by their rushing attack. Senior Tyler Traub rushed 17 times for 257 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore Marcello Vitti also shined bright for the Falcons as he carried the ball ten times for 141 yards and two touchdowns on offense. Vitti also added 14 tackles on defense.
The Jets come in after putting up 70 on Detroit East English with a final score of 70-12. Senior Jack Mills led Airport. While Mills only played two quarters, he made a big impact on the game. Mills rushed for 50 yards on five carries on offense. However, on defense, he had five tackles and two pass breakups, and he also recovered a fumble for a touchdown.
Saline at Belleville-Game of the Week
We will once again head to Belleville as the Tigers welcome in the Saline Hornets. Last year, when these two met in the District Final, it went down as a classic. Belleville did come out on top with a 62-44 victory. This game will also see the top two Quarterbacks in the state and two of the top players in the country in Saline’s CJ Carr and Belleville’s Bryce Underwood.
Last week, the Hornets beat Ann Arbor Pioneer 56-14 behind the play of CJ Carr and James Rush. Carr finished the game with 17 of 20 passing for 200 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore James Rush was a breakout star for the Hornets this year, and he showed why in the first-round game. Rush ran it nine times for 128 yards and four touchdowns.
In last week’s 48-7 win over Ann Arbor Huron, they did it behind the play of quarterback Bryce Underwood and Jeremiah Beasley. Beasley finished with 50 yards and eight tackles in the win. For Underwood, who is the top Quarterback in the 2025 class, he accounted for five touchdowns. Four of the five touchdowns from Underwood were passing scores.
