We have reached the postseason, and we are bringing you two great matchups. We are heading to Southgate as they host River Rouge, and we will head to Allen Park as they will host Dexter in our Game of the Week.
River Rouge at Southgate
The Panthers of River Rouge travel out to face a former Mega League opponent, the Southgate Anderson Titans. This is the first matchup for the two schools since 2002.
We are over 20 years removed from the last time these two faced off, so It’ll be a new iteration of these teams to renew an old rivalry.
The Southgate Titans will look to stud running back Chase Barbosa to lead the way for the Titans, as well as Quarterback Jackson Sage. While on defense, they will turn again to Barbosa and Andrew Porter to try and slow down this Rouge team.
The Panthers of River Rouge come in after playing one of the toughest schedules in the state. They will look to Senior Wide Receiver Nick Marsh. Marsh is one of the best-known players in the state, and he will look to get his team back to the top of the mountain. It’s not only Marsh that you need to watch out for. The Titans will also need to try and stop players like Quarterback Mckale Mcdowell, Running Backs Cameron Broadnax, and Jamori Biggs on offense, and they will need to find a way to slow down defensive standouts Leo Garcia and Dijon Wilson.
The winner of this one will face the winner of the Trenton vs Riverview game.
Dexter at Allen Park- Game of the Week
The Allen Park Jaguars will meet the Dexter Dreadnaughts for the first time. This one is coming in a playoff showdown.
The Dreadnaughts enter this one sitting at 6-3 a year after star athletes Cole Cabana and Brennan Parachek graduated. They started the year 0-2 and needed a pick-me-up, and they found that with Junior Running Back Ronny Johnson and Sophomore Quarterback Cooper Arnedt. If they want to make it out of this one, both Johnson and Arnedt will need to make big-time plays.
Entering the playoffs at 8-1, the Allen Park Jaguars’ only blemish is a loss to league rival Carlson. Seniors Reed Picotte, Braylon Orsette, and Cam Johnson are looking to make sure that’s their only loss. While Orsette and Johnson are getting the majority of the spotlight for the Jaguars, it’s Picotte who grabs your attention when he’s on the field. Picotte has led the way for the Jaguars and might be their most important player on the field at his Middle Linebacker position.
The winner of this game will play the winner of the Carlson vs Livonia Churchill game.
