Bear Sports Network Game of the Week: Semifinals Powered By Kroll Construction

We have hit Semifinal Saturday in the state of Michigan. Our games this week are at neutral sites and will be played at 1 pm.

This week, we will have coverage of the Flat Rock vs Corunna, which will be played at Ypsilanti Lincoln. Then our Kroll Construction Game of the week takes us to Chelsea High School for Mason vs Detroit King.

Flat Rock vs Corunna- Ypsilanti Lincoln High School

This game will pit 12-0 Corunna against 9-3 Flat Rock. This will be the first time the two schools have met on the football field.

For Flat Rock, they will look to Junior Quarterback Graham Junge and Senior Running Back Brian Booms to lead them to their first State Title game since 1976, when they beat Onaway to win their only Football Title in school History. Last week, in the win over Detroit Southeastern, it was all Booms, as he had six total touchdowns and 287 total yards. Two hundred-two yards and five touchdowns were from rushing the ball. Junge continued his dominant season by throwing for 244 yards and three touchdowns.

Corunna is in the middle of their best season in school history, and that is thanks to the help of the Bower Twins (Tarick and Wyatt) and the Edington Brothers (Bryce and Jaden). The two sets of siblings are looking to help the school to their first-ever State Title game. In the win over Lutheran North last week, it was Jaden Edington going off as he finished with five touchdowns and 186 yards from his Running Back position. Quarterback Wyatt Bowers finished three of four passing for 103 yards and a touchdown pass to his twin Tarick for the 89-yard score.

Detroit King vs Mason- Game of the Week- Chelsea High School

A game that is becoming an annual tradition is going to pit 12-0 Mason against 7-5 King.

For King, they snuck into the playoffs as the last team in division three and have shown that their new young weapons are taking learning on the job to the next level. It starts at the top with Freshman Quarterback Darryl Flemister, who, in the 20-19 overtime win over River Rouge last week, finished eight of fourteen for 103 yards and three touchdowns. Two of the three touchdowns went to Senior Kavon Matthews.

Mason will look to one-up King this year as they are currently 0-2 the last two years. If they want to one-up King, it will have to be Junior Quarterback Cason Carswell taking the lead like he did against Walled Lake Western a week ago as he completed 20 of his 35 passing attempts for 264 yards and two touchdowns in the 44-41 overtime win. Not only did Carswell complete two touchdown passes, he also caught a touchdown. Kaleb Parrish, a Senior, also played a significant role in the win as he had ten tackles on defense and forced and recovered a fumble. Parrish also had four catches in the game, including the game-winning touchdown.
