After three more games last week where we saw high-scoring affairs in two of the three, we are back with two more games. Our Game of the Week, powered by Kroll Construction, takes us to the Downriver League as Allen Park hosts Woodhaven. Then, in our other game, we have a nonleague matchup as Divine Child hosts Milford.
Divine Child vs Milford
The two schools will meet for the first time, with the first meeting for the two teams coming in Dearborn.
The Mavericks of Milford look to build on the success of the first two weeks as they are looking to go 3-0 for the first time since 2010. Leading the Mavericks into battle is second-year head coach Andrew Micovich, who built on the success of the 2021 season last year. Senior Quarterback Ryan Allen will head Micovich’s offense. Last week, in the 44-7 win over South Lyon East, Allen passed for 70 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 173 yards and two touchdowns en route to 572 total yards.
The Falcons of Divine Child once again have opened the season 1-1 after doing the same thing the last two seasons. Also in his second season as Head Coach, Chris Laney is looking to build off the 62-14 win against Cranbrook-Kingswood. For the Falcons, they will look to rely on Sophomore Marcello Vitti coming off of a three-score game for him. Outside of Vitti, the Falcons will look to Seniors Joe Krawczak, Tyler Traub, and Liam Young to lead the offense.
Kickoff is set for 7 pm from Divine Child High School.
Allen Park vs Woodhaven- Game of the Week
Our Game of the Week, powered by Kroll Construction, takes us to the Downriver League as the Allen Park Jaguars host the Woodhaven Warriors. Last year, the Warriors took the matchup by a final of 35-0.
The Allen Park Jaguars are looking for their first win over the Woodhaven Warriors since the 2018 football season. After a down season last year, the Jaguars are on a revenge tour headed by Senior Cam Johnson, who has four touchdowns in two games. Another bright spot for the Jaguars has been Senior Quarterback Braylon Orsette, who has passed for 218 yards and five touchdowns while adding another 65 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. They will look to keep up the solid play this week.
It’s a different story for the Warriors as they enter this one after a rocky start to the season. The offense for the Warriors has been carried by Quarterback Ben Kolodziejczyk, who, in two games, has passed for 238 yards and two touchdowns while adding another three touchdowns and 82 yards on the ground. While Kolodziejczyk has been the front man for the Warriors, don’t overlook Junior Maurice Tyler, who has compiled 134 rushing yards and a touchdown on 12 carries in both games.
Kickoff is set for 7 pm from Allen Park High School.
