Week two of high school football in the state of Michigan saw a late addition to the schedule. Both The River Rouge Panthers and the De La Salle Pilots were without opponents so what happens when two of the better teams in the state need a game? They match up. The game which was officially scheduled on Wednesday was a good one. That saw the Pilots come out on top 38-29.
The game would start fast as on the first drive of the game Panthers’ running back De’Monnie Hendrix would run it in from 14 yards out to give rouge a 7-0 lead. The Pilots would then go on to score twice. Once was from Princeton commit Will Beesley, which would be his lone score, and then DeNiro Johnson would score his first of two scores on the night on a 44 yard run. Johnson would finish the night with 131 yards on 11 carries.
That wasn’t the only stud on the field tonight for the Pilots as quarterback Brady Drogosh would go 7/9 passing for 87 yards, however he did most of his damage on the ground as he would go for 180 yards and a touchdown that way. After the game Drogosh said that even though they picked Rouge up on Wednesday “We worked real hard this week. We watched their film whenever we could.” He also gave props to his offensive line for opening the running lanes when they needed them and said “They played great all game.”
