Division 2 Final Takeaways: De La Salle Runs Away With the Title

De La Salle won their second straight title with a 52-13 victory over Forest Hills Central. Here are our takeaways.

De La Salle

Can the Dynasty Keep Going Without Brady?

Over the last three seasons, Brady Drogosh and the De La Salle Pilots have been mainstays at Ford Field. This was Drogosh’s last game as the Quarterback for De La Salle. In the game, Drogosh finished going 21 of 23 for 249 yards and two touchdowns, and he added another 152 yards and three more touchdowns on 15 carries. Drogosh has been their man, winning two state titles in football, and that sets them up to start talking about a possible dynasty. If Head Coach Dan Rohn can coach up Junior QB Dylan Trondle or whoever he dubs as Drogosh’s successor, they will be around for a long time to come.

Domination!

De La Salle did what they have been doing all postseason: dominate their opponents. That trend continued today as they jumped out to an early 14-0 and never looked back. Brady Drogosh and Rhett Roeser both had a score on the ground within four minutes of each other. Drogosh would then find Jack Yanachik on a 38-yard pass, and the game was over at that point. Not only is domination a thing that De La Salle has done all playoffs, but wide receiver Triston Nichols dominated today, catching five passes for 56 yards and a touchdown. How is that dominating, you might ask? Nichols played on a torn ACL.

Forest Hills Central

Never Gave Up

Although the game didn’t go the way Forest Hills wanted, you have to commend them on never giving up. Forest Hills played hard throughout the game, but that wasn’t enough, as they couldn’t stop the high-power offense of De La Salle. Be proud of what you accomplished this year. Head Coach Tim Rogers said this was a program-changing season after the game.
