Our Game of the Week this week takes us to Gibraltar Carlson as the Marauders (2-0) host the Allen Park Jaguars (2-0). This will be a revenge game for the Marauders as they lost both meetings last year to the Jaguars 42-14 in week three and 28-7 in the district final.
The Jaguars come into this one still looking for a stabilizing force under center as they have used both Steven Doyle and Braylon Orsette heavily early in the season. Doyle was big in getting the Jaguars off the ground in week one, and Orsette was key in the week two victory. If the Jaguars struggle passing it this week look for a heavy dose of running backs Owen Alverez and Josh Rempert just like it was versus Wyandotte week one.
The Marauders are coming into this one with a chip on their shoulder. They feel that last year was a fluke and that they should win this matchup this season. Carlson welcomes back Quarterback Eddie Light, along with Defensive End/Tight End Ben Przytula, and Slot Receiver Brandon Scheffler. Carlson did welcome in a new head coach for the third time in three seasons as they named Jason Gendron coach. Gendron took over for Landon Grove after he departed for Grand Rapids West Catholic, he will look to get a win over one of the school’s two rivals with this being his first chance.
Will the scheme of new Marauders head coach Jason Gendron be enough to snuff out the two-quarterback system of the Allen Park Jaguars, or will the Jaguars find a way to extend the streak over the Marauders to four straight? It’s an unbeaten rivalry tilt in the downriver league. Kickoff is set for tonight at 7 pm from Carlson High School.
