The Chargers of Allen Park Inter-City Baptist welcomed in the Riverview Pirates to open up what they hope will be a title run. While the game started slow for the Chargers, they were able to use a big second quarter to help lead them to a victory in their season opener over the Pirates 64-61.

Fast Ships
The Pirates jumped out to a fast lead and did that by going quick. To start off the game, the Pirates made the Chargers play their game, and that was when they were at their best. They were able to get out in transition and score using the three ball early on, and when they were forced to slow down, that is when they made mistakes. If they can play fast and push the floor, they will be fine and be able to bounce back from the slow start to the season.

This Just In….We Still Here
Coming off of a Final Four run last year, the Chargers of Allen Park Inter-City Baptist still have their core players from that run, and they aren’t going anywhere any time soon. Carlos Jackson and Ethan Esse were the main players in that run for the Chargers, and both are only Juniors. The Chargers might be one of the most underrated teams in the state, with two of the most underrated players in the state being Jackson and Esse. With the help of Mason Kowalski, who looks to be a good third option to help make this team go, they will once again be a team to reckon with.
Esse Makes It Easy
Even on an off night, star Junior Ethan Esse still put on a show. Esse had 27 points on 9 of 19 shooting in the game against Riverview, but his biggest play came late in the game, as he found Josh Hamilton in the corner for a game-winning three. That assist was one of his five on the night. He also came away with four rebounds and four steals in the victory.
