From start to finish, it was the Allen Park Jaguars that would walk away with the win over the Wyandotte Bears in the playoffs, putting an end to the Bear’s winless season. It would be a 61-39 victory for the Jaguars as they move on to face Riverview in the District Semifinals.
Wyandotte Bears
Not Enough in the Tank
While they looked like they were going to make a comeback in the third quarter, they didn’t have enough after outscoring them 18-10 in halftime. After that run, it seemed like whatever adjustments were made at halftime went out the window. Zack Hoffman had a night in the game, as he scored 14 points. While Hoffman was the one scoring all the points it was Ryder Chavez bringing the energy on defense. The best news for Wyandotte is that both of those players, along with Andrew Massingill, who has the ability to be the best player on the team, will return for their team next season.
Allen Park
Shooters Galore
The Allen Park Jaguars were knocking down shots at a high clip in the win over Wyandotte. While everyone knows that Brandon Powell is the real deal, Kaidon Boyd provided a big spark on the offensive side of the ball as he knocked down three 3-pointers in the game on the way to scoring 11 points. His 11 and Powell’s 21 points were more than enough to give the Jaguars a decent push in the right direction. Then, when you add in nine points from Jack Labiak, you’re cooking, and all of that happened with Weston Glei having an off night for his standards on the offensive side of the ball. If they can get Glei, Labiak, and Boyd to play at the top of their game the rest of the week, they could be holding their first district title since the 90’s
