Hoops Takeaways: Flat Rock vs Airport

Flat Rock traveled to Airport in a trophy rivalry game called the Battle of the Jug. It was Flat Rock who was able to keep the Jug as they edged out Airport 62-56.

Airport

Shaky Flight

While the Airport Jets started and ended strong, it was a turbulence-filled flight. The Jets went 1 of 7 from the free throw line and turned the ball over ten times. All seven free throws came in the second half, and five came in the fourth quarter. Flat Rock found a guy to attack, and they attacked him, as one person shot every free throw. The Jets very well could have won this game, as they were in it all the way. If they hit all the free throws, it’s a tied game, and if they had one less turnover, things could have been different.

Resilient Rams

The Flat Rock Rams were able to recover from a quick start by the Jets and withstand a late push by them. Leading the way for the Rams to come back in the first half was Tim Murphy, who had 12 of his 16 points in the first half, and it was Graham Junge who helped the Rams hold off the Jets late as he had eight of his 18 points in the fourth quarter. The play of those two and 13 rebounds by Alex Gillum helped them edge out the Jets.
