Edsel Ford
Grit
The Thunderbirds came to play against the Railsplitters. They shot better from the field and had more rebounds, deflections, and steals than the Railsplitters. Even when they were down, they never gave up. The Thunderbirds outscored the Railsplitters 25-12 in the second half, which was due to the play of Senior Ussad Elwaseem. Elwaseem finished with 23 points, seven rebounds, an assist and two steals. He helped lead the gritty charge for the Thunderbirds to get the win.
Lincoln Park
Not All There
Whether it was the fact that they came in thinking it was going to be an easy victory or that the snow day threw them off, the Lincoln Park Railsplitters weren’t all there in this one. While they were better from three and the free throw line, they played sluggish the rest of the game. At one point in the second half, a few members of the team stood up from the bench as they clung to a lead that was slipping away and pointed to the scoreboard. If you can take any positives away from the game for Lincoln Park, it was the play of Donovan Effinger. Effinger finished with 10 points and two rebounds. He finished shooting 80% from the field, making 4 of his 5 shots, and he also finished 100% from the free throw line.
