Macomb Dakota traveled to Utica to face off with Eisenhower(Ike). While it was a close game, the winner was decided in the final second, as Dakota won 57-55.
Eisenhower
Starting Strong
The Eagles of Utica Eisenhower started the game strong, and that was due in part to the play of junior guard Randall Rice. Rice’s 10 points at the half led the team and was tied for the game-high at the half. They also had all the momentum, as they hit buzzer-beaters at the end of the first quarter and headed into the half to give them all the momentum in the game.
Dakota
Flip the Switch
Dakota was able to flip the switch at halftime and showed why they are one of the best teams in the third quarter. In that third quarter, Dakota outscored Eisenhower 19-8, giving them a 46-43 lead going into the fourth.
Final Second Heroics
While Dakota had a lead heading into the fourth quarter, the game was close all four quarters. That close game gave way to an exciting final twenty seconds of the game, as senior Arnez Sanders stole the ball and scored the game-winning layup with four seconds left in the game, giving Dakota the win.
