Hoops Takeaways: Notre Dame Prep uses Big Night from their Football Stars to Elevate their Basketball Team

The Falcons of Divine Child welcomed the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame Prep for a game that would turn up the heat on an Icy day. The Fighting Irish would go home happy in a high-scoring affair, as they would win this one by a final of 72-65.

Mixed Bag of Play

It was a mixed bag for the Falcons of Divine Child in their game against Notre Dame Prep. At points in the game, they looked like the best team on the court, and at points, they looked like they didn’t belong on the same court as Notre Dame Prep. One reason for the mixed bag was the fact that the Falcons took a lot of bad shots early. Denham Butler played a huge role in the game to keep his team in the game. Butler stepped up and scored 23 points when the rest of his team was having issues on the night.

DeCasas, Stowe, and the Fighting Irish

The game consisted mainly of Joey DeCasas and Sam Stow, with help from the rest of the team. DeCasas opened the game by scoring the first six points and doing so in dominating fashion. He also scored the first basket off of the opening tip-off. DeCasas also had two amazing dunks, one of which shook the other rim. He would finish the game with 20 points, six rebounds, four steals, and two assists.

However, once he got into foul trouble, Sam Stowe stepped up and took over the spotlight. Stowe would be big for the Fighting Irish late in the game, making three big three-pointers in the fourth quarter to help extend their lead.
