Hoops Takeaways: Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Keeps Repeat Dreams Alive as they Overpower L’Anse Creuse North

Orchard Lake St. Mary’s and L’Anse Creuse North met up for a chance to go to the division one semi-final in East Lansing at the Breslin Center. While it would be a close game in the first quarter, Orchard Lake would run away with it starting in the second quarter as they would go on to win 73-42

Orchard Lake St. Mary’s

Keep the Train Going

The Eaglets of Orchard Lake St. Mary’s have been one of the best teams in the state, and with the season winding down, they are still pushing ahead and at full steam. Trey McKenney is leading the way for the Eaglets, but when he was out earlier this year, they had to rely on Sharod Barnes to take on a heavier load, and he’s been able to play with consistency all season. Luke Crighton has also been a nice surprise for the Eaglets, as he’s also taken on a bigger role in the offensive side. However, If the Eaglets are going to win anything this season, they will need their star, Trey McKenney, to play his game and show why he’s the top player in Michigan.

L’Anse Creuse North

Stayed Fighting

While it was written on the wall before the game was over that Orchard Lake would move on, L’Anse Creuse North never gave up. To end the first quarter of the game, it was a one-point lead for Orchard Lake, and even though that lead kept expanding, L’Anse Creuse North kept trying to chip away. Even though they lost to Orchard Lake, it was a great season for L’Anse Creuse North, and they should keep their heads up because it’s not easy to beat a team like Orchard Lake, and with them only giving up nine points after one quarter, it could be counted as a win for them
