The Eaglets of Orchard Lake St. Mary’s and the Bobcats of Grand Blanc met to keep both seasons going in the state playoffs. While the Bobcats would make it a game in the first half, the Eaglets would pull ahead late to come away with a 72-41 victory.
Grand Blanc Bobcats
Keeping It Close
The Bobcats kept it close in the first half, thanks to Caseton Sendry, Donnie Huddleston, and Emmanuel Cooley. Each player had big shots that helped the Bobcats stick around in the game. The biggest shot of the night might have been a buzzer-beater as time expired in the first half from Cooley, which tied the game up. However, that would be the last time the Bobcats would be in the game, as they couldn’t match the energy that Orchard Lake came out of the half.
Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Eaglets
Pulling Away Late
The Eaglets started to heat up coming out of halftime. They started the third quarter going on an 11-3 run to start the quarter. Sharod Barnes and Trey McKenney would be the driving forces as they would go for a combined 23 in the third quarter to help give their team an 18-point lead at the end of the third. It would be more of the same in the fourth quarter, but in the fourth, it would be Mateen Cleaves Jr who would lead the team with eight points, but what also would help them out was them being able to hold Grand Blanc to six points in the fourth en route to the big win.
