The U of D Jesuit Cubs and the Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Eaglets took to Calihan Hall on the campus of the University of Detroit Mercy for the Bishop Championship of the Catholic League. It was a game filled with runs, and it would be the Eaglets that would win their second straight Bishop Championship by a final of 58-57.

Team Effort
It took the whole team to take down U of D Jesuit. While everyone knows what Trey McKenney can do, it was Sharrod Barnes who stole the show in the game. Barnes was the main ball handler in the win over U of D, but he also wasn’t afraid to score the ball as he was 50% from the field and knocked down his only shot from beyond the arch. It was Isaiah Hines and Luke Creighton also putting in work, with Creighton pulling in five rebounds and dishing out two assists. Hines was the third leading scorer on the team, scoring 10 points, but he also added four additional rebounds and an assist in the win. Freshman Mateen Cleaves Jr also played a role in the victory, although it wasn’t a big part.

Blyden Star
Although his team came out on the losing side of the championship game, it was Leroy Blyden who was the star of the show. The senior guard was on fire throughout the game. Blyden was consistent throughout the game, shooting 50% in both halves, adding five rebounds and two assists to go along with his 26 points. It was Blyden who led the charge in the first half, and quite honestly, he kept the team in the game. He was mister-do-it-all for his team.
