It was business as usual for the Summit Academy Dragons as they opened the season with an 85-69 victory over the Detroit Renaissance Phoenix. The Dragons had to do it without Head Coach Mark White who is currently suspended.
Lance vs Dontez
It was a match-up of the guards in this one as it was a battle of two different styles, but high-end players in Lance Stone and Dontez Scott. Stone is a pass first take what’s given to you player, whereas Scott is a drive-and-create type of player. Both players are phenomenal in their own right and can be considered some of the best in the State.
Renaissance
Stone Cold Lance
Lance Stone is a great player who showed it in this game. Stone commanded the team’s offense and acted as the coach on the court. Stone finished with 27 points in the game and knocked down 12 of 14 from the line, which showed that he can be a stone-cold assassin.
Summit
Passing to the Open Shot
The Summit Academy Dragons looked for the open shot by using quick passes to try and throw off Renaissance. They knew where they were going from the first pass to the last.
Supporting Cast
Every great movie has a great supporting cast; the same can be said about great teams. The Dragons of Summit Academy have their star and a phenomenal supporting cast for that star to play off of. Dontez Scott is the star of the show, but he has players like Dominic Krzesowiak, Andrew Ashwood, and youngster Demetri Campbell to help this team go.
