It’s always a good time when two Catholic League teams meet, and it was just that when De La Salle traveled to face off against Detroit Catholic Central. Even though Detroit Catholic Central won running away, it was a high-scoring affair with a final score of 72-59.

Chuck and Dunk
The Pilots of De La Salle didn’t run one set play on offense. The Pilots ran up and down the court and were just chucking up shots. The two players that dropped the most shots in the chuck and dunk offense were Phoenix Glassnor and Armoni Portis, as they scored a combined 48 of the team’s 59 points. If they want to get out of this 0-3 start of the season they are in right now; they will need to run some set plays and control the ball longer on offense so they can rest a bit before getting back on the defensive front.

Team Ball
The Shamrocks of Detroit Catholic Central played a great team game of basketball. It was a full-team game, from ball movement to giving up the ball to allow other players to score, as four players scored in double figures. Asher Suardini scored 19 and dished out seven assists, and players like Wycel Davis came one rebound shy of a double-double, or Devin Lee did a little bit of everything, scoring ten and getting five rebounds and assists. Or even newcomer Jackson Bowden playing out of his mind, scoring on eight of his ten shots. It was a great team game for them.
Big Baller Bowden
Newcomer Jackson Bowden played one heck of a game for the Shamrocks. Bowden easily flowed between playing defense against De La Salle’s guards and forwards. Not only was he able to play great defense for the Shamrocks, but he was also great from the field, going eight of ten for 17 points. He also pulled in five rebounds and then dished out four assists to his teammates. It was a great debut in the Catholic League for Bowden.
