Hoops Takeaways: The Divine Child Falcons Step Up to the Challenge as they aren’t Scared of the Physical Allen Park Jaguars

The Allen Park Jaguars traveled to Dearborn to take on the Falcons of Divine Child in a non-league showdown that warmed us up at the start of the polar vortex. The two teams used their competitive fire to their advantage as the Falcons walked away victorious, 55-51.

Big Three

In a big game like this, it was obvious that Allen Park is a three-headed beast, and when they have trouble getting going, the team will have issues. All three members of the Jaguars got into foul trouble, which changed the way they played the game. What also hurt them was Jack Labiak having to leave the game for an extended period of time due to getting hit in the eye, which slowed down an already slow offense. While Brandon Powell was still able to get his game going, he was getting trapped and forced into sticky situations where he was forced into making plays he normally wouldn’t make. All in all, if any member of the Jaguars big three is forced out of the game, they will have an issue in the game.

Scrappy

The Falcons are a scrappy team, and they showed that in the game against the Jaguars. While the game got chippy early, it was the Falcons who were diving for balls on the ground and not afraid to get a little physical on the court. Players like Malik Bush and Sean Slusser were at the forefront of the physical blows, and it was Slusser was diving around for the ball, including onto one of the Jaguars players. While their record is subpar, they are definitely a team that will fight to the very end of the game.
