Lincoln Park moves to 1-1 on the season following an 18 point win over Edsel Ford

The Lincoln Park Railsplitters welcomed in the Edsel Ford Thunderbirds on Friday to wrap up the first week of action in the Downriver League. After a back and forth first quarter the Railsplitters went on a 11-5 run to open up the second quarter of action.

Following an early run in the second quarter both teams went ice cold as they went three minutes without scoring but, according to Railsplitters Coach Brian Starll at the half they talked about being more patient on the offensive side, but they knew that they would be able to keep up the defensive efforts due to the trap.

After the half that three minute scoring drought that plagued the Railsplitters was a thing of the past as they extended their lead to 44-27 heading into the fourth and final quarter of the game. To finish the game the Railsplitters kept rolling by winning the game 59-41 behind player of the game Malik McKinney who had 8 points, but had a huge game as a player maker for the Railsplitters. Coach Starll said “We just give Malik the ball and go,” and that was the key for the Railsplitters on Friday night.

The next game for the Railsplitters will see them travel to Allen Park on Monday. On the other side of things Edsel Ford will look for their first win of the season as they host Taylor on Monday night.
