Playoff Hoops Takeaways: Brother Rice vs Orchard Lake St. Mary’s

The Warriors of Brother Rice were looking to stop The Eaglets of Orchard Lake St. Mary’s winning streak at three. The second half gave them some hope of that, but the lead that the Eaglets built in the first quarter was more than enough to extend their winning streak to four as they came out on top 52-43.

Runaway Train

From the start of the game, it was all Orchard Lake St. Mary’s. After the first quarter of the game, it was a 20 to 8 lead for the Eaglets of Orchard Lake. They were able to hold Warren Marshall and Elijah Williams to a combined three points in the first half as the Eaglets finished the half up 26-13. While they kept up the lead in the second half, they cruised to victory 52-43.

As McKenney Goes

The game, in all reality, went as star guard Trey McKenney went. The Eaglets’ first-quarter lead was expanded by a nine-point quarter from McKenney. After the big nine-point quarter, McKenney would go on to finish the game with 19 points after a big first and fourth quarter, where he really helped his team win.

Come Back?

The second half of the game saw the Warriors come out with some fire. They came out in the third and matched the Eaglets point for point before out-scoring them 21 to 17 in the fourth quarter of the game. A big part of the comeback for the Warriors of Brother Rice was Senior Warren Marshall. Marshall was held scoreless in the first half but came to life in the second half, scoring all eight of his points in the back half. One of the main reasons they could stay in the game was the play of David Williams. Willams had a day as he scored 15 points and was their driving force.
