One of the best high school games in the state this year took place at Cass Tech as the Technicians of Cass Tech hosted the River Rouge Panthers in the second Regional game of the day. If you wanted a great game with a fantastic atmosphere, you found it at Cass Tech. The gym was packed, and both football teams were in attendance, routing their basketball counterparts on. However, the game did have to start in a delay as they had to wait for the crowd from the Woodhaven-Riverview game to clear.
When they could finally play, it was a back-and-forth game that saw River Rouge come out on top 66-60.
River Rouge
King Fisher
After a big game in the district finals against Dearborn, Ke’shawn Fisher won for Rouge at the free throw line as time expired, and he was at it again in this one. Fisher started slow in the game, scoring only nine points in the first half. However, something came over him in the third quarter as he hit three straight threes en route to a 12-point quarter from him and a 31-point quarter for River Rouge. That 31-point third quarter gave them the lead, and they ran with it. While Cass Tech did try to cut it down it was River Rouge’s, King Fisher, Ke’shawn Fisher that reeled in the big win.
Cass Tech
Falling Short
The defending Division 1 State Champions, the Cass Tech Technicians, came up just short of a chance at a second regional title and a chance to defend their State Title at the Breslin Center. Part of the issue for Cass Tech was getting into foul trouble. Four people were in foul trouble, two of whom fouled out of the game. The two that fouled out were the team’s two best highest-scoring players on the night, Corey Sadler Jr and Derrick Miller. Both players fouled out at critical times, which cost the Technicians dearly.
