Playoff Hoops Takeaways: Woodhaven vs Riverview

Woodhaven and Riverview met in the first of two games in the regional playoffs from Cass Tech High School. In this one, it was all Woodhaven as they jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back as they would go on to beat Riverview 69-45.

Campbell’s Possibilities

Senior Jevon Campbell was all over for the Woodhaven Warriors. Campbell was just like your can of Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup, good for what ails you, as he finished the quarter with eight points and was only still heating up. Finishing the half with 12 points and his team up 18, Riverview still had some life left in them, but you could tell that Campbell had other plans and put a dagger in Riverview as time expired in the third quarter. Campbell drained a shot from just beyond half-court. Campbell provided a lot of versatility as he scored 21 points, but he also added five assists and four rebounds, along with adding three steals and a block in the big win.

Captain Gallimore

Senior Guard Evan Gallimore was the captain of the ship, and he went down swinging. Gallimore scored 19 in the loss, which was a team-high, but that’s not all he did. He also played a huge part the rest of the way, especially after losing fellow senior Caleb DiBrano early in the first quarter. The whole team ran through Gallimore, and he stepped up to the challenge as he finished with a double-double, grabbing 12 rebounds to go with his 19 points. Gallimore would also add two assists and two steals, but the rest of the team just fell short.
