This is Southgate Anderson’s second straight year making it to the playoffs but losing in the first round last year against the Trojans 34-27. The River Rouge Panthers also came up short of making it to the district finals in the 2022 season. River Rouge came into this game looking for the win, which they were able to pull off with a final score of 47-14
River Rouge
Determination
At the start of this game, you knew from the sidelines that Rouge wanted this win. In the first half, they were able to put up 26 points against the Titans. Panthers were continually able to beat the Titan’s defense, which allowed them to run upfield, with Jamori Biggs and Nick Marsh both scoring two touchdowns for River Rouge. Marsh had four receptions for 141 yards and two touchdowns to make him an ALL-AMERICAN. Marsh was all in for this game. River Rouge took this playoff win and is now to face the Riverview Pirates for the District Title.
ALL-AMERICAN
Following the Panther’s win over Southgate, Senior Nick Marsh was named an ALL-American. Marsh finished the game with two touchdowns and 141 yards on four receptions. While Marsh was named an ALL-AMERICAN following the playoff game, it was his play during the year that got him this honor, as he had 1,303 yards and 14 touchdowns in total in the regular season. His yards and touchdowns weren’t just from his receiver position; they came from all over the field. That play is the reason he is truly an ALL-AMERICAN.
Southgate
One and Done
One thing that you can say about the Titans is they really did put their all into this game; yes, the score may not seem like that, but look at who they played. In the first half of the game, they were able to get past the Panther’s defense and got into the end zone once and were able to find it again in the third, but not after that. Connor Ensign and Issac Norsica were the two that found the endzone in this one. Ensign had seven carries for 41 yards and a touchdown. Norsica also scored a touchdown for Anderson in the game. Last but not least, Chase Barbosa had 30 carries for 151 yards. This season for Southgate Anderson is something that the team should be proud of, winning big and finishing the regular season with a record of 7-2.
