Puck Takeaways: Carlson Scores 11 Goals in Home Opener on way to First Victory of the Season.

The Carlson Marauders opened up their home slate of games on November 19 against the combined might of the Riverview-Cabrini Hockey team. The saying is two heads are better than one, but that wasn’t the case in this hockey game as Carlson Mercy-Ruled Riverview-Cabrini 11-3.

Riverview-Cabrini

Two-Headed Monster

While two schools couldn’t overcome the strength of one school, two players on the team did all the scoring. Those two players were Maverick Markham and Trevor Turkowski. Markham scored two of the three goals for Riverview-Cabrini and assisted on the third, while Turkowski scored one of the goals and assisted on the other two. While both Markham and Turkowski are the best players on the team, it was Markham who impressed the most with his speed on the ice and his stick handling.

Puck Barrage

It was a flurry of shots on goal for the Carlson Marauders, as they threw up 43 shots and scored on 11 of them. The first period was the most impressive, as they had 12 shots on goal and scored on five of them. Chase Moore had the most success in shots on goal, finding the back of the net twice, but every period, they put up double-digit shots, including in a shortened third period.

Have Mercy

The Carlson Marauders showed no mercy in this one, as they absolutely dominated the game. The Marauders had 11 goals by nine different players. Cam Luszczynski and Chase Moore each had two goals in the game. While nine players had an assist in the game, ten different players assisted on those goals. The assists leader in the game was Grayson Moll, who had three to help his team to the massive victory.
