It was puck drop on the biggest High School Hockey Showcase in the State of Michigan for two Michigan Schools. Trenton, who was playing at their home rink, welcomed in Marquette, who traveled over seven hours for the showcase and faced off in a high-intensity showdown. The game ended in a shootout, with Trenton coming out on top 3-2.
Marquette
It’s Not How You Start.
It isn’t how you start a game; it’s how you finish it. While Marquette got on the board first with a goal in the final 25 seconds of the first period and then retook the lead with 13 seconds left in the second period, they couldn’t close out the game. While they had more opportunities to score, outshooting Trenton 25-22, they couldn’t find the last-minute magic they had in the first two periods, and the game went into a shootout where they fell short by one score.
Trenton
It’s how you Finish.
Trenton started slow in this one, as they were held scoreless in the first period. However, they found their footing in the second period as they battled back and got on the board. They again were down, heading into the third period; however, they were able to tie it up midway through the final period. This time, they were able to hold off a goal in the last 30 seconds by Marquette and force a shootout where they would send Gabriel Polyviou, who scored one of the two regulation goals, John Medvich, and Will Barrett up for them and all three would come through for the Trenton Trojans to give them the shootout victory.
