The Crusaders of Detroit Martin Luther King traveled to Ford Field to take on the Dux of Zeeland West. While the travel wasn’t far for Martin Luther King, their State Title hopes were left back at the high school, which was a mile and a half away. The Dux would run away with this one 42-22 to claim the Division Three crown.

Out Matched
It seemed like the Crusaders were outmanned and outmatched in this one. The Dux ran the Wing-T formation, which caused some issues for them. Head Coach Terel Patrick said as much post-game, saying, “We haven’t seen that in six years, and it’s tough to get ready for in four days.” That is true, and when you add in the speed that all of Zeeland West’s backs possess, it caused mismatches all over the field.
Zeeland West
Quack Attack
The Dux of Zeeland West went on a quack attack in the game against Martin Luther King. They used their running game and even decided to pass it a little bit. They would go on to score six touchdowns and outgain them by over 100 yards.
Record Setter
A record that was tied in the Division 6 game was broken less than 24 hours later as Zeeland West’s Keaton Hendricks scored six touchdowns. Hendricks rushed for 129 yards and three touchdowns, and he also pulled in three receptions for 25 yards and three touchdowns. Hendricks used his speed and shiftiness to create space out of the Wing-T to help lead his team to a victory.
