The last time was 2022 regionals; the last time they won was 2016 when they ended up winning the state title. The score does not show the effort that the Marauder players put into this game. The Marauders’ offense, outside of Izaiah Wright, was not able to get through the defense of OLSM. It seemed like the defense of OLSM knew where the Marauders were going, specifically Quarterback Joe Krolak. One has to wonder if the Marauders were outmatched in this one.

OLSM brought the hype for this game; from the start of the game, they were on their feet, cheering and playing the game of football. The offense struggled here and there when it came to passing in the endzone but they found what works for them and killed it from there. The defense was the natural killer of this regionals game, they held the Marauders to mainly running the ball but even then Carlson’s offense had a hard time running through the Eaglets defense. Darrin Jone Jr was a part of this win for the Eaglets with 122 yards, 16 carries, and a touchdown, but none of this would have been possible if it was not for quarterback Axel Newell.
Arms for days
Axel Newell is the senior quarterback for OLSM. In this game, he completed six of his eight passes for 106 yards and a touchdown. Newell is a star for the team, which is looking to make it to its first state final since winning it all in 2016. He was able to distribute the ball well to three different receivers, and in the end, it was enough to take down the Carlson Marauders.
