Season Preview: Can High Profile Players Turn Things Around For The Wildcats?

Coming off a 2-7 where their only wins were against rivals Canton and Salem, the Plymouth Wildcats are looking to have their first winning season since 2019.

The Wildcats will return 11 players, with seven returners on offense and four on defense. On the offensive side of the ball, they return Senior Quarterback Sam Plencner. They will also return Running Back Jaxon McCaig, Tight End Hunter Dohring, and Three-Star Senior Offensive Lineman Idrys Cotton.

While it will be difficult for the Wildcats to flip it around, they do have some hope as they lost two games by two scores or less, and with that, Head Coach Greg Souldourian said, “We need to come together as a team, and finish games.”

What will also help the Wildcats is that they will play a team from the other side of the KLAA in a crossover game at the end of the year that finished in the same spot as them. So if they finish as the seventh-place team in the west, they will play the seventh-place team in the east of the conference.

The Wildcats will start the season on the road on August 25 in Traverse City, playing Traverse City Central at 7 pm. The teams’ first home game of the season will be on September 8, as they will host Hartland at 7 pm.
