The Allen Park Jaguars and the Allen Park Inter-City Baptist Chargers met in the annual crosstown rivalry. The Chargers won 61-59 for the first time since the 2013-14 school year.
Allen Park
Fouls Will Kill You
It was a foul fest for the Allen Park Jaguars at Inter-City. The Jaguars had 20 fouls on the night, giving Inter-City 25 chances from the free-throw line, and they hit 16. When you give a team that many free shots from the line, you need to find a way to out your opponents, and the Jaguars couldn’t do that this night.
Inter-City Baptist
Fast and Free
The Chargers of Inter-City played two Freshmen for a majority of the game, and they were able to play this one fast and free. Kagan Hill and Ethan Esse, both Freshmen, combined to score 30 of their team’s 61 points. For Hill, he came off the bench in the first quarter, and it seemed like the Freshman didn’t exit the court until the final buzzer. Hill had a game-high 16 points, while Esse started and ended up with 14; he played more of a facilitator role, passing the ball and bringing it up the court. With this combination of the young talent and the leadership of Head Coach Mark Kraatz, Inter-City will be a team to watch as they round into shape and continue to play a fun and fast-paced style of basketball.
