For the first time in five years, the Allen Park Jaguars slayed their Downriver League foes in the Woodhaven Warriors. Although the game started slow for the Jaguars, they were able to pull away in the second half as they won 43-21.
Woodhaven Warriors
Run Heavy
The Woodhaven Warriors came out with a plan, and that was to base the game plan on the run. Throughout the game, you saw the Warriors go with options, pitches, and outside plays, among other ways to move the ball on the ground. The run game took a hit late in the first half as Maurice Tyler was injured on a reception. If the Warriors can keep the run game moving, the passing will play stronger with the remainder of their league schedule.
A Tale of Two Halves: Special Teams
In the first half, the Warriors’ special teams unit looked amazing. Maurice Tyler played a role in the special team game as well as in the running game, with him taking a kick return 90 yards for a score in the first quarter 13 seconds after the Allen Park Jaguars scored. That was the highlight for the Warriors on special teams. The lowlight came in the fourth quarter as the Warriors kicked the ball out of bounds at least four times on the same kickoff attempt. The first half saw big return after big return, but in the second half, they didn’t have many opportunities.

Revenge Tour Keeps Rolling
The Jaguars checked off another one in their revenge tour. This one tasted sweeter as they beat the Woodhaven Warriors for the first time since 2018. In this one, the Jaguars were led by a three-headed attack from Braylon Orsette, Cam Johnson, and Josh Rempert. Orsette finished with 175 yards and two touchdowns on seven for eleven passes, adding an additional 14 yards, a touchdown, and a two-point conversion on seven carries. Johnson had 120 yards and two touchdowns on three catches; he also had 75 yards and a touchdown on four carries. For Rempert, he led the way with 143 yards on 14 carries, where he also added a touchdown. These three have headed up the Jaguars offense all season, and if they can stay healthy, look for the Jaguars to make a deep run in the playoffs and take revenge on a few other teams who wronged them last season.
Day One Connections
When you watch the Allen Park Jaguars, there is one connection that looks like they have played together for years. That is the connection between Quarterback Braylon Orsette and do-it-all Receiver Cam Johnson. The duo has connected eight times for 215 yards and five touchdowns on the season. The Jaguars should ride this connection to a Downriver League title and more in both the players’ senior years.
