It was a cross-town rivalry as the Technicians of Cass Tech welcomed in the crusaders of Detroit, Martin Luther King. The two teams needed extra time to come up with a winner as the Crusaders would edge out the Technicians 18-12 in an Overtime thriller.
Thriller in Detroit
The rivalry between Cass Tech and Martin Luther King has always provided some of the best football the PSL has to offer. This meeting was no different as they locked horns, and Martin Luther King came out ready to go, scoring quickly. While they had two quick scores, King coasted, allowing Cass Tech to get back into this one. A field goal by one of the best kickers in the state of Michigan, George Sanchez-Murillo, and a bad snap from King that gave Cass Tech a Safety made it 12-5 at the half. The third quarter went back and forth until the final minute of play allowed Cass to tie it up. The fourth quarter was all defense for the two teams, but that gave us overtime. Each team got the ball from the 10-yard line to see who could come up with the win, and it was King who would walk away victorious after Darryl Flemister found Tayshawn Henry-Johnson for a three-yard passing touchdown.

Second Half Come Back
The Technicians of Cass Tech needed a second-half comeback to force overtime against their cross-town rival. While they went into overtime early on in the game, it didn’t look that way as they would let up two early touchdowns, and without their starting Quarterback, it looked bleak. Even though it looked bleak, Cass Tech never gave up, and star Junior Corey Sadler began to take over. Sadler took snaps under center and out wide at Wide Receiver, and it was at Wide Receiver that Sadler had his biggest play of the game as he pulled in a 25-yard touchdown reception to tie the game late in the third quarter. While they would come up short, they didn’t give in.
Detroit Martin Luther King
Quick Strike
The Crusaders of Detroit Martin Luther King struck quickly in this one, which is a reversal of what we have seen from them earlier this season. The two other times we’ve seen the Crusaders this year, their offense had been slow, and they had to rely heavily on their defense. This time, things were different as they opened with the ball and scored on a 71-yard touchdown pass by Darryl Flemister to fine Damon Stennis. Their defense would then play a big part early in this one as Jaidon Windom intercepted the pass and made a statement on an 80-yard pick-six. The early quick strikes for the Crusaders helped them en route to the big win over their rival in this one.
The Windom Way
Junior Jaidon Windom led the way on defense for the Crusaders. Windom went out and had a big game in his cross-town rivalry game. The Junior had two big interceptions on defense, one of which went for an 80-yard pick-six. Windom then had another interception right before the half and laid out some big hits in his standout game. After the game, Coach Patrick said that Windom having this type of game was something that he could see coming because he is a phenomenal athlete.
