ollowing one of the best rivalry games in the state, we have some takeaways from the King vs Cass Tech game.
Takeaways:
Dante Moore still that dude?
Over the summer King Quarterback Dante Moore committed to Oregon, however, is he still the number one QB in the state? We will give him the edge but Bellville QB Bryce Underwood is hot on his trail. Moore got his team on track and will look to lead them to another State title in November. Moore finished the game going 17/25 for 255 yards and three touchdowns. Including an 82-yard touchdown in the first quarter of the game.
What’s up with Lee?
Leeshaun Mumpfield has been the Quarterback for Cass Tech for two seasons entering this year. Mumpfield normally looks calm and cool in the pocket, but this year he looked a tad bit scared and unsure of his ability in the first three quarters but was more himself as they mounted a late comeback. If he played like that all game Cass could’ve pulled off the upset.
Is Cass better than the score?
Yes, plan and simple yes they are. Like I said above, if not for the poor early play of Leeshaun Mumpfield, Cass Tech was in the game the whole time. Tad bit better play from Mumpfield we are talking upset victory over who many have as the number one team in the state.
King the real deal?
Again yes, if King can stay healthy the Division 3 State Playoffs will run through them. King has weapons and players to make a deep run into the playoffs and they have the experience to win it behind Dante Moore they still have Sterling Anderson who played a part in the win a year ago, along with wide-out Jameel Croft on the offense. On defense, it all runs through Kenny Merriweather upfront or if you can get by him it’s Safety Corey Webb doing the damage.
