Week 6 Takeaways: Carlson vs Trenton

By: Natalia Terleckyj

These two teams have battled against each other for the past couple of years. Last year, Carlson and Trenton shared the Downriver League title; when they played each other for the district championship, Trenton Trojans took the title, winning 17-7. Coming into this game, we knew it would be a fight for both teams. Carlson Marauders took this win with the score of 28-23.

Carlson Marauders

Band of Marauders

Carlson took this win by producing on both sides of the ball. The Marauders and Trojans were head-to-head going into the second half, tied at 14-14. If you have seen the Marauders play before, you know they come out for the second half ready for war, which is precisely what happened. Isiah Wright did what he has always done this season by scoring two touchdowns, and Landon Vida scored a touchdown. But one player that changed the game is Teegan Nagy.

Pick 6 for number 6

Sophomore Teegan Nagy was a showstopper for the Marauder’s defense. He had 14 tackles, two tackles for loss, a fumble recovery, and a pass deflection, and the one play that changed the game was his pick-six. One thing to note is that Nagy is not the biggest guy on the field, but that’s what makes him the football player he is. Nagy has to work harder to show that he can do what he is out there to do. Teegan Nagy is the next player that you want to watch out for on the Marauder football team.

Trenton

Trojan Horse

Trenton has struggled this year with connecting on both sides of the ball as a team and player-to-player. They came into this game with a 4-1 record, losing to Southgate. Quarterback Keegan Lewis had challenges with finding his targets when it came to passing the ball; Lewis was able to score a touchdown for himself in the first quarter, starting with a score of 7-0. Junior Ashton Rooney, playing on both sides for Trenton, was able to move the ball on offense. Next week, they face Allen Park, hoping they pull out a win.
