Week 6 Takeaways: Lincoln Park Outlasts Taylor Behind Epic Performance from Jamir King

Lincoln Park traveled to Taylor in a game that was a high-scoring affair. Typically, Lincoln Park and Taylor play a tight, close game, but that was not the case this week as Lincoln Park used their ground attack to win this one 48-32.

Taylor

Bright Future

The Taylor Griffins had to rely on Sophomore Quarterback Landyn Norman for a second week after their starter went down with an injury. Norman was phenomenal under center for the Griffins and showed why they could have a bright future ahead of them. Norman completed 15 of the 30 passes he attempted for 198 yards and four touchdowns, and he also added another 104 yards on 19 carries. Not only does Norman play football, but he is also a basketball and baseball player, and from everything we heard, he is a stud at both of those sports. The only way for Norman to go is up, and if he continues to develop, you will hear his name for years to come.

Lincoln Park

King Jamir

The Lincoln Park Railsplitters running back had himself a game vs Taylor. In the game on Friday Jamir King rushed for 226 yards and five touchdowns on 19 carries. King is a big, strong back who is fast. He broke off three rushes in this one of more than 40 yards, and all three went for touchdowns. The longest run for King came early in the game for a 75-yard score. King also had another 40-yard score, but that one was called back due to a hold. King has firmly placed himself in the center of MVP talks.

Playoffs?

Don’t look now, but Lincoln Park is on the verge of making the playoffs this season. Lincoln Park is currently sitting at 4-2 with three games left on the schedule. Their remaining schedule has them hosting Southgate next week, and Carlson will end the season with a road trip to Woodhaven in between. With their wins over Edsel Ford and Taylor, it has their playoff points, and it looks like they only need to come away with one more win in their final three weeks to make the playoffs. Can they do it? If they play like they did today and have their top weapon in Jamir King keep running like he showed today, they will be in the dance for the first time since the Covid-shortened 2020 season and making it for the first time in a full season since 2015.
