After falling flat a week ago against the Trenton Trojans, the Carlson Marauders bounced back and took it to the Woodhaven Warriors, who they overpowered by a final of 49-14.
Woodhaven Warriors
On The Come-Up
While the Warriors of Woodhaven fell short in this one, their future is bright, especially at the Quarterback position. Freshman Quarterback Preston Scheffler had some rough moments in this one, but he showed flashes that made him look like he could be a stud for years to come. Scheffler wasn’t afraid to go through his progression tree and look for an open man, and with that, he showed that he wasn’t scared to get outside of the pocket to make a play happen like he did on his 45-yard touchdown pass. While there was good in this one for the young Quarterback, it wasn’t all roses as he did try to force a few passes. One of those was picked off, and on the run, he was a little loose with the ball that allowed Carlson to knock out for a fumble. However, with all of that said and done, Scheffler showed in this one that he has a bright future.
Carlson Marauders
Coming Out Angry
After falling short against the Trenton Trojans last week, the Carlson Marauders came out angry, and it showed early in this one as they jumped out to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter. They did that with a tough defensive showing and even better play by star players Izaiah Wright and Joe Krolak. The two players combined for 234 yards and three touchdowns on the ground in the victory.
The Joe Show
While everyone in the area knows Carlson’s Running Back, Izaiah Wright, do you know the name of the leading man for the Marauders this year? If you said no, let me introduce you to Senior Quarterback Joe Krolak. Krolak has put the team on his back this season, and tonight was no different. Krolak had three touchdowns in this game, two passing and one rushing. On the night he finished the game, 5 of 7 for 130 yards and two touchdowns. He then added 12 carries for 115 yards and a touchdown. Krolak showed why he is an absolute monster on the field in this game, and he still has a big matchup against Allen Park in week 8. One thing is for sure: he knows it is going to be a business trip.
So very proud of the Carlson Marauders. The entire team has done a phenomenal job. The young men have great camaraderie with each other. I am proud to be a grandmother of one of the players.
