Week 9 Takeaways: Detroit Catholic Central Wins Behind Dominating Performance from Jaden Pydyn

In the final game of the Regular Season, Catholic League Champions Detroit Catholic Central will face the Runner-up in the Detroit Public School League, Detroit Martin Luther King. Catholic Central will come out on top 23-7.

Missing Piece

The Crusaders of Detroit Martin Luther King were without Quarterback Darryl Flemister in this game following his ejection from the Detroit Public School League Championship a week ago. Flemister would have been a big help in this one for the Crusaders. While the game was all Catholic Central, the Defense of the Crusaders kept them in this one all second half, and if they had their signal caller, this one could have been much closer and could have possibly seen the Crusaders ruin a perfect season for the Catholic Central Shamrocks.

Pydyn A Way

While the Catholic Central Shamrocks are a well-rounded team, Senior Running Back Jaden Pydyn made some of the biggest plays in the game. Pydyn lined up as the Running Back and Quarterback on offense and as a Linebacker on defense. On offense, he would score two touchdowns on 16 rushes that went for 81 yards. What might arguably be the biggest play for Pydyn came on defense as he intercepted a pass that turned into a 43-yard pick-6. Pydyn is a difference-maker for the Shamrocks, and he showed it here.

More to Come?

While the Shamrocks went undefeated this year, they have been missing Junior Tight End Jack Janda all season. Janda is one of the best players in the state, and when they get him back, it will be a great injection for the offense. Adding Janda to an already good offense of Jaden Pydyn and Samson Gash could make them favorites in the playoffs.
